opulent and very rounded medium-bodied flavors brim with dry extract that buffers the moderately firm acid spine supporting the solidly persistent finish that also exhibits a hint of bitter citrus

The supple and caressing flavors are no denser

but this distinctly savory wine is dense and deep

gravel and crushed flowers abound

Raymond Usseglio, Chateauneuf Du Pape Size:6x1.5L It was bottled in AprilRuby red. Aroma of red fruit liqueur. Sweet and nicely concentrated, with good volume but only modest nuance. Shows good freshness and fruit, but finishes with some youthfully tough tannins. Seems distinctly cleaner than a bottle of the '98 I tasted last year. However, my sample of the '99 Cuvee Imperiale was plagued by a raw wood quality that dried its finish. Stephen Tanzer
