It has a feel of Grinling Gibbons' works (the Michelangelo of carved wood, late 17th century). The backing plaque is a contrast in color wood, and sets off the deep carved sculpture beautifully. Obviously was once mounted in paneling or in cabinetry, it could be hung as wall art now, or framed, mounted on your own
